Chances of being a fighter pilot

I was wondering about what percent of people that actually try out for becoming a pilot actually make it? Is there a certain regimen of things that you should do to be able to further your chances? I've seen all of the things on the sites but that's really general and not very specific. I also was wondering what your chances are of getting a waiver for PRK or something by that means to correct your vision.
