I'm not sure if I missed something, but is there any way to check my banner stats such as impressions on my site, impr. of my banner, click thru rates etc.? This should include the possibility to change the banner occasionally.

Also the script adds a text link "Avitop.com Aviation banner exchange - Join now!" below the banner, but when you click it it redirects to the homepage http://www.avitop.com/ and there is no option to join the banner exchange.

Hi folks,
I'm a UH-60 driver in the Army (don't shoot). I received a letter from a high schooler asking me the differences of my airframe to yours, and figured I'd try to do a little research. I found a decent fact sheet, but figured I'd see if I could track down one of your operators to compare notes. It seems like most of the differences are in our avionics packages, and in-flight refuel capabilities (or our lack thereof), but first-hand info is always better.
Appreciate the help from any fellow rotor-heads.

As a 55 year old lifelong military aircraft fan I'm asking about an F-18 flyover I witnessed at our dinky local county airport 'Coles county memorial' in Mattoon,Il. The hornet was on static ground display at the time of engine startup,etc. Simultaneously with lighting off the turbofans or so it seemed the folded wingtips came down. During this time there was a loud metal 'rending' sound[similar to the sound of pulling a large nail ouyt of solid wood, only metallic coming from the plane and I've wondered for years if it was the groan of the metal near the afterburners becoming 'hot' or rather the unfolding of the wingtips? Although I cannot bring myself to believe that a Naval or Marine F-18 would be so pooorly lubricated that the unfold made the noise. And also I've witnissed several military demonstration jet startups
never having heard such a sound before. Ideas? Semper Fi!

smoke oil concentrates

i have a question for you guys who use white smoke oil.

i know people have tryed using color smoke oil concentrates and many have had no luck.

we manufacture color smoke for sky diving and now produce color smoke concentrates for piston engines.

the problem with concentrates is the dyes. the dyes are not very tolerant to much of any thing if the formula is not mixed correctly. basicly the correct formula is never listed on the net,but even if you get lucky enough to get the correct formula the mix has to be blended down to the gram or it will not work.

the other problem with concentrates is they wont work with the same white smoke oil injector most people use. the injector is to big.

my question is this.

if we can produce a injector that will allow the concentrates to work in piston engines do you think there would be a market.

i know a lot of people think these concentrates only work in jet engines.

well that is not true.

these dyes work at temps of around 400C now your exhaust header produces a lot more heat than that so that rules out the heat problem real fast.

it leaves only two possable problems,one is the delivery system. the injector size is every thing.

the second problem is the formula.

these dyes are no different than pyrotechnic dyes,they do the same thing.

these dyes have to be blended right to the gram this includes the reducers and the carring agents. if one compound is off by as much as a ounce the whole batch is junk.

with piston engines the tollerence is even closer.

any way i just wanted to gey your thoughts.

and yes if staining may or may not be a problem.

the good news is if the correct injector is used and the correct mix is followed the clean up problems will be very small.

Setting out for my A&P, suggestions? General Questions.

I live in central florida and the two closest Aviation Maintenance schools are Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) and National Aviation Academy.

Does anyone have any experience with either?

What should I look for in a maint school?

Is an A&P license recognized outside the US?

How competitive is the maintenance job market?

What should I realistically expect to make just starting out after school?

Should I just go for the A&P or should I tack on Avionics if availible?

Any help you gentelment could give would be greatly appreciated.

Your counters are very inaccurate, at least they are in the Personal Pages section. This started a couple of weeks ago and has gotten worse in the last week. I noticed it's affecting every site equally.

Non-english web sites using Aviation Top 100

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The rules are clear and one must agree to them before listing their site on Aviation Top 100.

The description of the site and the site itself has to be in the english language. A link to a translation site is not good enough.

In the Personal Web Pages section 3 of the top 5 sites are not in English nor are the Personal Sites. Any chance these sites could be removed from Top 100?
