How to ad the code !

If you are having problems adding the code, please check the instructions below. The most common problem is that people forget they have to physically place the Aviation Top 100 logo (the gif) in the same folder as the page where they are placing the code. If failing to do so you will see an empty box where the Logo is supposed to show.

Select the HTML editor you are using to ad your code:

Adobe GoLive 4.0

Use the following procedure for Adobe GoLive 4.0.

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Open your page in Adobe GoLive 4.0.
Click 'Source' in the menu.
Insert the Aviation Top 100 HTML Code between the and tag's.
Select 'Preview' in the menu to test the result and save your page afterwards.
Note: Don't move the Logo in any of the other modes (Like fx. 'Layout') after you have inserted the code. This will modify the Aviation Top 100 code and result in script error on the page when it is displayed in a browser.

Dreamweaver 4.0

Dreamweaver 4, will following installation change the placement and modify the Aviation Top 100 Code. Follow this to avoid it :

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
EDIT --> PREFERENCES
Click "Code Rewriting"
UN-check both:
fix invalidly nested and unclosed tags
remove extra closing tags
The Checkbox "warn when fixing or removing tags" will automatically be deselected when doing this.

After this insert the Aviation Top 100 code in the HTML window:

Click on the "<>" button to switch to Code condition.
OR, select VIEW --> CODE
Make sure to remove old Aviation Top 100 code.
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code between and .
Take a look at the page in your browser to make sure the code is inserted correctly.
Save the file.

Note: After the code has been inserted, don't move it in any of the other modes, since this will modify the code and make it stop counting. If you want to move the Logo you need to remove it completely and then follow the above steps.

HomeSite 4.5

HomeSite 4.5 Shouldn't have any problems with the code, but if you experience any follow this:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Open the Edit window.
Copy the Aviation Top 100 Code.
Insert the code between the tags in the document.

HOTDOG PROFESSIONAL 5.5

HotDog Professional 5.5 Shouldn't have any problems with the code, but if you experience any follow this:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Insert the code between the tags in the document.
Click 'External Preview' in the "File" Toolbar or press (F9) and select a browser in which to view the page.

Microsoft FrontPage

Follow this:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Show the page in "Normal" mode.
Place the cursor where you want the Logo to be
Click "Insert" on the menu.
Click "FrontPage Component…"
Click "Insert HTML"
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code between the and tags:
Click "Ok"

Microsoft FrontPage 2000

If you edit your pages with FrontPage 2000 and experience problems with the stats it is most likely because Fromtpage has modified the code. Remove the code completely and follow the steps below:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
View your page in 'Design View' (default view).
Click at the bottum of the page.
Click Insert > Advanced and select "HTML".
Place the cursor where you would like to insert the Logo.
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code between the and tags:
Click "Ok"

Net Object Fusion 4.0
Net Object Fusion 4.0 Shouldn't have any problems with the code, but if you experience any follow this:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Click "Layout Properties"
Click the "HTML" button
Click "Beginning of Body"
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code in the text box and click "Ok"

Net Object Fusion 5.0
If you experience problems inserting the Aviation Top 100 code using NetObjects Fusion 5.0, then follow this:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
Open your page in NetObjects Fusion 5.0.
Click 'HTML Source'.
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code between the and .
Click 'Page Preview' .
Save the page.
You will now be able to se the placement of the Aviation Top 100 Logo using the 'Page Preview' mode.
Note: If you want to change the placement of the logo, then switch to 'HTML Source', remove the old code and insert again the new place in the HTML code.

Page Mill 3.0

If you edit your pages with Page Mill 3.0 and experience problems with the stats it is most likely because Page Mill 3.0 has modified the code. Remove the code completely and follow the steps bellow:

Right click on the Aviation Top 100 Logo you want to use. Select 'Save as' and save it in the same folder as the page where you are wanting to place the code.
On the chosen page in Page Mill, click "View" from the Dropdown menu and click "Source Mode".
Insert the Aviation Top 100 code between the tags.
Save the file.
You can see your corrections by clicking the "View" dropdown menu and click on "Switch To" and then either "Netscape" or "Internet Explorer".

Microsoft Office Live

1. Ad the gif image itself to the a page you are not using on the Microsoft Office Live Home page. Go to the page and right click on the image to get the url of the image. Copy the url.

2. Now you need to modify the Aviation Top 100 code a bit. log on to get the code and change it in the following way to refleft the URL you copied in step 1. Find the part of the code that says

your code may say something different that avitop6.gif if you selected a different logo. Modify this part of the code the following way:

3. On the left navigation bar on your Microsoft Office Live Home page, click WebSite. The Page Manager page appears.

4. In the list of Web pages, click Edit next to the page that you want to insert the HTML code in. The page opens in edit mode.

5. Place the cursor in the zone where you want to insert the HTML code.

6. On the taskbar, click Module, and then click HTML. The HTML module appears.

7. Copy and paste the modified Aviation Top 1000 code into the text box.

Why does the Aviation Top 1000 Logo not show?

The most common problem people run into is forgetting to upload the gif image itself to the same folder as the page with the code. For more details read this post in our forum: http://www.avitop.com/AspNetForums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1815

To reacquire your code log into your account here: http://www.avitop.com/aviation/default.asp#login

Then press the "Change Logo" link.

The reason we require people to host the logo locally is in order to save bandwidth on our servers. The logo is not very big but with several million hits each day it ads up. This way the logo is also presented at the same pace as the rest of the content on your page.

If you don't want to upload the logo to each directory on your site you are welcome to modify the code to point at the place where you have uploaded the logo. Be very careful to not touch any other parts of the code. To modify find the line in the code that looks like this:

Let's say you have all your images in a folder called images. Then you would upload the selected gif/jpg to the images folder and update the code to:

target="_blank"><img name="av" src="/images/avitop6.gif" width="135" height="17"

Be sure to use the correct gif name. avitop6.gif is just the name of one of our logo's.

Help a novelist out on cargo jets/mods?

Hi there. I was hoping to find a forum like this to pick the brains of experts.

I'm a novelist and kind of a stickler for detail, so the more y'all can throw at me, the more grateful I will be!

Let's start with the basic questions:

What would be the minimum type/style/model of transoceanic cargo jet my character would own that could carry 1 to 2 containers of horses (so, 6 horses total, at maximum) direct nonstop on the following trips: coast to coast in USA; KY to London or Manchester; and London to Dubai; and still leave room for a crew lounge and a reasonable private executive suite (basically just a nice lounge area, private bedroom, small galley, and bathrooms fore & aft).

Horses weigh an average of 1200 lbs each, so the cargo weight would be about 8,500 lbs max (6 horses plus tack and equipment). The number of passengers would range from 2 to 6 plus crew (of 3, I'm guessing?).

Is there a jet like that which could still land at smaller airports like Lexington, KY?

I'm guessing/assuming that my character would have started with a cargo jet and built the executive suite into it, rather than buy a passenger jet and tear the passenger section *out*, correct?

I know nothing about how airplanes are balanced. Would the cargo section be in the fore, aft, or midsection? Would it be possible for the executive suite to have access to the cargo area to care for the horses?

My character is self-made and very wealthy but also pretty low key and not hugely pretentious, and doesn't like to spend stupid money. So, like, I've seen YT vids of the vast, luxurious aircraft the Arab countries use, but those would be too much for my character. Assume that my character has had this jet for a decade or so, so "newest whizziest" isn't really going to come into play here either.

I know the commercial horse transport companies usually use Boeing 727/737/747, BUT they're also hauling way more horses/weight than my character needs to haul.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to try and make my character sound smarter than I am! If you can point me in the direction of further resources to find answers to these types of questions, that'd be great too.

Are USAF Pilots allowed to plan thier missions. Like if a pilot is going to bomb a certian place, does he get to make his plan on how he will get in there or not. Also is he allowed to make adjustments in the air. I have been told that a pilot once in the air can only do exactly what 1. his handbook tells him 2. what the guy over you says. you arent allowed to vary off course at all, and you never get to free fly. Is this True? Mostly do you get to free fly?!? /How much are USAF pilots allowed to do? Can a pilot please tell me....

Slip (balance) and Turn indicator

I am not an aviator, but I have what hopefully is not a stupid question.
I am a restoring a '80 Triumph Spitfire roadster and would like to add a Supermarine Spitfire gauge to the dash. I found a Slip (balance) and Turn indicator in ebay, but not knowing enough about them I was wondering if it would indicate anything about my turning in a car rather than a plane that is operating at an order of magnitude faster. The indicator has graduations from 1 to 4.

I cant seem to find any information on becoming a pilot with my situation. As the subject states, I am a 22 year old student taking some time off from school. I currently am in real estate which obviously is not going so well. I have about 3 1/2 years of college, mostly just core classes. I was going for a business degree but became bored with the idea. My grades are average because like I said I was not happy with where I was and what I was studying. I know that with my combination of a strong desire to travel and fly that this is what I want to do.

So with all of that said I am just looking for a little guidance or information on what I should do. I don't have a preference of which service I choose, just so long as I get to fly. I have been considering Coast Guard, Air Guard, or Navy.
