Hi,

Excuse me for being maybe a bit dumb but I just downloaded a peice of software from http://www.softscanner.net which claims it allows me to monitor real POLICE , FIRE, 911 depts and ATC LIVE.

It seems to work, but am wondering is it for real or a con of some kind. How is this possible when I have no scanner or radio equipment with my PC.

I am new to all this stuff, so excuse my ignorance.

Don't know the product and the site doesn't appear to work, but maybe it is getting the communication over the internet. Most likely a couple of guys have connected their scanners to their computers/servers and allowing you to "use" them remotely.
